Ellen P. McHugh

Ellen P. McHugh has a diverse and extensive work experience. Ellen P. is currently serving as the Chief Administrative Officer at Refugees International since August 2022. Previously, they held the role of Director of Operations at Refugees International from August 2021 to August 2022.

Prior to their current role, McHugh worked at the Center for a New American Security (CNAS) for almost nine years. Ellen P. served as the Director of Operations from July 2011 to August 2020, where they oversaw the administration and operations of a research institution. Ellen P.'sresponsibilities included talent recruitment, cultural health, innovative technology, regulatory compliance, and more.

Before joining CNAS, McHugh worked at Georgetown University as an Associate Director for the Center for Security Studies and Security Studies Program from 2005 to 2011. Prior to that, they held roles at The Brookings Institution, serving as the Associate Director for Finance and Administration for the Center for Middle East Policy from 2002 to 2005 and as the Executive Assistant to the Director of Foreign Policy Studies from 2000 to 2002.

McHugh's work experience can be traced back to Georgetown University in 1993, where they worked as the Executive Assistant to the Dean of Students until 2000.

Ellen P. McHugh completed their Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in History from the College of the Holy Cross in the years 1981 to 1985. Following this, they pursued further education and obtained a Master of Arts (M.A.) degree in National Security Studies from Georgetown University from 1996 to 1998.
