Maria Apostolaki is an experienced Environmental Engineer and Energy Expert currently serving in the Region of Crete since February 2015, also fulfilling the role of Special Advisor to the Vice Governor for Energy. Maria has held progressively responsible roles within the Region of Crete, including positions in the Directorate of Environment and Spatial Planning and the Department of Hydro-economics, where responsibilities included ensuring compliance with environmental regulations and managing water resource agreements. Prior experience includes environmental assessments and renewable energy project development with ENERGEIAKI TECHNIKI S.A. and the Prefecture of Heraklion. Maria holds a Master’s degree in Environmental and Sanitary Engineering from the Technical University of Crete.
