Michael Painter is a strategic advisor with a diverse background in health policy, law, and advocacy. Currently serving as a Strategic Advisor since April 2025, Michael was previously the Managing Director of Impact and Learning at the Nia Tero Foundation, working alongside Indigenous communities to promote environmental stewardship. As a Senior Program Officer at the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation from 2005 to 2020, Michael focused on healthcare quality and health disparities. Additionally, experience includes serving as a RWJF Health Policy Fellow for Senator Bill Frist, Chief of Medical Staff at the Seattle Indian Health Board, and an associate attorney at Brobeck, Phleger & Harrison. Michael holds a Doctor of Medicine from the University of Washington, a Doctor of Law from Stanford Law School, and a BA in Economics and Mathematics from Vanderbilt University. Originally from Oklahoma, Michael's career reflects a commitment to fostering a healthy and equitable future.
