Tara A. Plimpton

Tara A. Plimpton serves as general counsel for Regions Bank and is a member of the company’s Executive Leadership Team. She leads the company’s Legal, Government Affairs, and Corporate Governance departments. Regions is a regional bank that operates throughout the South, Midwest and Texas and is headquartered in Birmingham, Ala.

Plimpton joined Regions in 2020, following an 18-year career at General Electric. At GE, Plimpton most recently served as Vice President and General Counsel for GE Global Operations. In that role, she led a team of over 450 global professionals running critical compliance, trade, IP, labor, and transactional support for GE globally. Plimpton also served as General Counsel to several GE divisions, including Transportation and Energy. Prior to joining GE, Plimpton was the managing partner of a law firm and provided legal counsel to a variety of corporate clients in the manufacturing, agricultural, and tourism industries.

Plimpton received a bachelor’s degree in International Relations from the University of Nevada and holds a Juris Doctor from Georgetown University.

Plimpton was a board member of United Way (Atlanta) from 2012 to 2018 and is a member of Georgetown’s Corporate Counsel Advisory Board.
