Greg Elin

Greg Elin has worked in a variety of roles in the technology industry since 2003. Greg started out as the Owner of Fotonotes LLC, where they developed an open source image annotation technology. In 2006, they joined the Sunlight Foundation as Chief Data Architect and Chief Evangelist, and was responsible for starting up the successful Sunlight Labs. In 2009, they took on the role of CTO and Executive Director of Life Without Limits at United Cerebral Palsy, where they worked to improve the lives of people with disabilities. From 2010 to 2013, they were the Chief Data Officer at the Federal Communications Commission, where they were responsible for the vision, policy and practices to make data an asset for daily use throughout the organization. Greg then founded and served as CEO of GovReady from 2013 to 2022, where they won the 2013 John S and James L Knight Foundation News Challenge for Open Government and was a Grant Recipient to make FISMA certification easier and faster for innovators and modernize government IT. Greg is currently a Senior Principal Engineer at RegScale.

Greg Elin received their Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in Communication and Media Studies from the University of Pennsylvania between 1983 and 1984. Greg then went on to earn their Masters in Interactive Telecommunications from New York University's ITP program between 1990 and 1993.
