Derek Temple

Derek Temple has over two decades of experience in the outdoor retail industry, primarily with Recreational Equipment, Inc. (REI). Since April 2012, Derek has served as the Category Merchant Manager for Camp Gear, leading a team responsible for driving strategic initiatives and financial performance across various product categories, including coolers and cooking gear. Prior roles at REI include management of significant annual sales in tents and furniture and oversight of assortment planning for food and outdoor equipment. Prior to these managerial positions, Derek worked as an Inventory Analyst, where responsibilities included sales forecasting and product selection, and began as a Merchandising Assistant. Derek holds a Bachelor's degree in Journalism from Colorado State University.
