Don Ely

Don Ely has over two decades of work experience in various roles related to network engineering, infrastructure management, and IT architecture. Their most recent position was as a Principal Site Reliability Engineer at REI, where they started in November 2022. Prior to that, they served as the Lead Network Engineer and Network Security Engineer Lead at the same company. Don also worked as a Senior Network Engineer at King County, WA in 2014.

Before their time at REI and King County, Don Ely held prominent positions at Milgard Windows & Doors, John L. Scott Real Estate, SWAT Systems, Tripath Imaging Inc, Sunhawk.com, and ARIS Corporation. At Milgard Windows & Doors, they served as a Senior Network/Systems Engineer, Infrastructure Supervisor, and IT Architect. At John L. Scott Real Estate, they worked as a Senior Network/Systems Engineer. At SWAT Systems, they held the role of Senior Infrastructure Architect, overlooking security audits and compliance for clients. At Tripath Imaging Inc, they acted as a Network Engineer, handling network infrastructure and security. At Sunhawk.com, Don Ely served as a Network Manager, responsible for designing and implementing a secure network infrastructure. Lastly, at ARIS Corporation, they worked as a Network Administrator and Help Desk Manager.

Throughout their career, Don Ely has demonstrated expertise in network architecture, perimeter security, firewall management, vulnerability assessments, and implementing security policies. Don has also been involved in managing and mentoring teams to ensure high availability and scalable network infrastructures.

Don Ely attended Western Governors University from 2011 to 2015, where they earned a Bachelor of Applied Science (B.A.Sc.) degree in Management Information Systems, General. Prior to that, they attended Highline College from 1993 to 1996, where they studied Computers and Business Administration, but did not obtain a degree.
