Peter Skillern

Peter Skillern has extensive experience in nonprofit leadership and advocacy for affordable housing and community development. As the Chief Executive Officer of Reinvestment Partners since January 1999, Skillern has driven initiatives aimed at fostering healthy and just communities through collaboration with individuals, organizations, and policies at multiple levels. Prior to this role, Skillern served as Executive Director of the Durham Affordable Housing Coalition from June 1991 to December 1998, where efforts focused on coalition building, poverty reduction, and economic opportunity. Earlier experience includes working as a Program Associate with the National Low Income Housing Coalition from March 1987 to August 1989, organizing state coalitions for affordable housing advocacy. Academic credentials include a Masters of City and Regional Planning with a focus on Real Estate Development from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and a Bachelor of Arts in Community Studies with Highest Honors from the University of California, Santa Cruz.
