Ryan Friedrichs has a diverse work experience spanning over several industries. Ryan began their career as a Coordinator of Volunteers at the United Farm Workers of America from 1996 to 1998. Following that, they worked at the League of Women Voters as the Youth Vote Coalition Exec Director and Field Director from 1999 to 2001. In 2000, Ryan also had a brief role at MTV UK, Northern & Eastern Europe for the MTV Choose or Lose Campus Invasion Tour. Ryan then joined Harvard University as a Teaching, Research Assistant, and Consultant from 2002 to 2005. After that, they founded and served as the Executive Director of State Voices from 2005 to 2010. Ryan then worked as the Chief Development Officer of the City of Detroit from 2015 to 2020. Currently, they hold the position of Vice President of Development at Related Companies, starting in March 2020. Additionally, Ryan has served in the military as a Sergeant, Infantry, and Intelligence Squad/Team Leader, Paratrooper in the 173rd Airborne Brigade Combat Team from 2011 to 2014.
Ryan Friedrichs attended Harvard University from 2001 to 2003, where they obtained a Master in Public Policy with a focus on Urban Planning. Ryan completed their Master's Thesis on Civic Engagement. Prior to that, they studied at the University of Michigan from 1995 to 1999, earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science. Their Honors Thesis was on Asian Studies.
