Sameh Khamis

Sameh Khamis has a strong background in research and technology, with experience in various roles at major companies and research institutions. Sameh is currently a Co-Founder and Lead Research Scientist at Rembrand, a position they have held since February 2023. Prior to this, Sameh worked as a Principal Research Scientist at NVIDIA from September 2020 to January 2023. Before joining NVIDIA, they were a Senior Research Scientist at Google from June 2017 to September 2020. Sameh also served as a Senior Scientist and Founding Team Member at perceptiveIO, Inc from June 2016 to June 2017. Sameh has worked as a Researcher at Microsoft Research, where they focused on Interactive 3D technologies, including Holoportation, from June 2015 to June 2016. Sameh's early research experience includes roles as a Graduate Research Assistant at the University of Maryland, College Park from January 2011 to May 2015, and as a Graduate Teaching Assistant from September 2010 to December 2010. Sameh has also held Research Intern positions at SRI International in 2014, Microsoft Research in 2014, Institute of Science and Technology Austria in 2013, and Siemens Corporate Research in 2012. Throughout their career, Sameh has made significant contributions in areas such as machine learning, computer vision, 3D graphics, and augmented reality.

Sameh Khamis holds a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Computer Science from the University of Maryland, obtained between 2010 and 2015. Prior to that, they earned a Master's Degree in Computer Science from Western University from 2008 to 2010. Sameh Khamis also holds a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Engineering from Alexandria University, which was completed between 2001 and 2006.
