Derrick van Schalkwyk

Derrick van Schalkwyk has a diverse work experience. In 2013, they worked as a Site Supervisor at Lonerock Construction for one month. In 2014, they served as a Structural Engineer at GFC Consulting for two months. From 2015 to 2016, they were a Postgraduate Student in Civil Engineering Informatics and Structures at Stellenbosch University, where they developed an application to analyze wind turbine towers as part of their M. Eng. thesis. In 2017 and 2018, they worked as a Graduate Structural Engineer at SMEC. Since 2019, they have been the Co-Founder and CTO of Remio (Formerly Kristalic).

Derrick van Schalkwyk obtained a National Senior Certificate from Grey College in the years 2006 to 2010. Derrick then pursued their studies at Stellenbosch University, where they earned a Bachelor of Engineering (BEng) degree in Civil Engineering from 2011 to 2014. Continuing their education at Stellenbosch University, Derrick completed a Master of Engineering (MEng) degree in Civil Engineering from 2015 to 2017.
