Frikkie Malan

Frikkie Malan has a diverse work experience spanning different industries and roles. Frikkie is currently the Chief Commercial Officer (CCO) at Remote Metering Solutions (Pty) Ltd, where they have been since 2021. Prior to this, they served as the Head of Sustainability Services and Projects at the same company from 2021 to 2023.

Before joining Remote Metering Solutions, Frikkie was the Business Owner of Illuminance Advisory, a niche energy management consulting and advisory firm that they founded in 2018. Frikkie provided independent and expert advice on energy efficiency and renewable energy opportunities to clients. Frikkie started Illuminance Advisory immediately after leaving a leadership position in a listed corporate.

From 2019 to 2021, Frikkie was the Group CEO of Ensight Energy Solutions, an international energy services company. Frikkie was responsible for executive leadership, project delivery, contract management, business development, and shared services. Frikkie also coordinated activities between the South African operations and other companies in the group.

In 2020, Frikkie served as the Treasurer of the ESCO Association of South Africa (EASA).

Prior to establishing Illuminance Advisory and joining Ensight Energy Solutions, Frikkie had various roles at Energy Cybernetics from 2008 to 2018. This included being the Head of Operations from 2013 to 2018 and the Head of Remote Metering and Energy Management Systems from 2008 to 2013.

Earlier in their career, Frikkie worked as a Project Manager at Emid (Pty) Ltd from 2005 to 2008, a Process Engineer at CSense Systems (Pty) Ltd from 2000 to 2005, and a Senior Metallurgist at Anglo American Research Laboratories (Pty) Ltd from 1995 to 1999.

Frikkie Malan has a Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering from Stellenbosch University, obtained between 1991 and 1994. Frikkie then completed a Management Advancement Program at the University of the Witwatersrand in 1999. Later, between 2003 and 2005, they pursued a Master's degree in Project Management from the University of Pretoria. In 2011, Frikkie obtained a certification in Energy Management from the Association of Energy Engineers. In 2013, they also became a Certified Energy Manager through the same institution.
