John Nastos has diverse work experience in various fields. John is currently employed as a Software Engineer at Remotion since March 2022. Prior to this, they worked at Harmonomics as a Harmonomics Programmer/Designer starting in 2015.
From 2010 onwards, John worked at Metronomics as a Metronomics Programmer/Designer. During their tenure, they created and programmed music apps for iOS, OS X, and Android. These apps, known as Metronomics and Harmonomics, are widely used by musicians and programming was done in Objective-C, Swift, JavaScript, and Java.
Before their work in software development, John Nastos had a successful career in music. Since November 2007, they have been working as a Saxophone/Woodwinds Performer, Composer, and Educator. John has performed with well-known artists such as Mel Brown, Christopher Brown, and the Oregon Symphony. John has also toured nationally and internationally with Grammy-winning artists Diane Schuur and Esperanza Spalding. John's compositions have been performed by orchestras accompanying Pink Martini, Rufus Wainwright, and Meow Meow.
In terms of teaching, John has served as an Adjunct Professor at both Portland State University and Mount Hood Community College since 2016. Additionally, they have authored courses for Lynda.com from 2015 to 2018.
John Nastos pursued their Bachelor's Degree in Jazz Saxophone Performance from 2004 to 2007 at the Manhattan School of Music.
