Francesco A. Volpe

Francesco A. Volpe is the Founder, CEO, and CTO of Renaissance Fusion since July 2019. Prior to that, they worked as an Associate Professor at Columbia University in the City of New York from July 2015 to June 2019, and as an Assistant Professor from January 2012 to June 2015. Francesco A. also worked as an Assistant Professor at the University of Wisconsin-Madison from March 2009 to December 2011. Before that, they were a Physicist at the Max Planck Institute for Plasma Physics from April 2008 to December 2008, a Postdoctoral Fellow at General Atomics from April 2006 to March 2008, and a Scholar at the Max Planck Institute for Plasma Physics from January 2006 to March 2006. Additionally, they worked as a Physicist and Marie-Curie Postdoctoral Fellow at the UK Atomic Energy Authority / Culham Centre for Fusion Energy from January 2003 to December 2005, where they conducted research on various topics related to fusion energy.

Francesco A. Volpe holds a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Experimental Physics, which they earned from Universität Greifswald. Francesco A. studied at the university from 1998 to 2003. Prior to their PhD, Francesco obtained a Laurea (BSc) degree in Physics from Università di Pisa. Francesco A. attended the university from 1992 to 1998. In addition to their scientific education, Francesco completed an Executive MBA program at ESCP Business School from 2018 to 2019.
