James Chavis

James Chavis is the CEO at RSI. James was previously the Senior IA Intrusion Detection Analyst at Blue Canopy Group, LLC from January 2011 to December 2012. In this role, they provided consulting expertise to the Division of Information Technology's Risk Mitigation program. James also strengthened system security by investigating cyber threats and conducting analyses/assessments of Always Persistent Threat (APT) attempts from foreign actors to infiltrate the agency's financial systems security. Additionally, they developed and distributed a verified checklist against NIST guideline controls and prepared and delivered briefings to executive leadership on the computer network status.

From January 2010 to December 2011, Chavis was a Senior IA-Engineer / Management at Technica Corporation. In this role, they ensured compliance with regulatory standards and system knowledge among employees by providing support for Supported Certification and Accreditation (C&A) testing.

Prior to that, Chavis served as a Senior Systems Security Officer at General Dynamics from January 2008 to December 2011. In this role, they were responsible for developing and enforcing information security policies, procedures, and practices. James also conducted security audits, managed incident response activities, and provided training to employees on security awareness and compliance.

Chavis began their career as a Senior Advisory IT Specialist at IBM-BCS Division from January 2005 to December 2007. In this role, they provided technical guidance and support to clients in the areas of systems architecture, networking, and security.

James Chavis has a MS in Instructional Technology from the University of the District of Columbia, a BA in Education from St. Augustine's University, and is certified in Statictical Testing from the University of Maryland University College. James also has certifications from LinkedIn in Kali Linux on Windows 10 First Look, ISACA in CRICS, CLP, and ISSO, as well as Certified Ethical Hacking Study Course, NRC/US State Department Trained in Certified ISSO, Lotus/Domino System Admin in Certified Lotus Specialist (CLS) Security training (in process), Cisco Training - USDA Education Center, Scrum Master trained, IPv4 and IPv6 experienced (Nessus/Tenable), Novell Certified Engineer/CNE, ECNE, and Certified Cloud Security Professional (CCSP).
