Helen Barker

Helen Barker has over 25 years of experience in the pharmaceutical and healthcare industries. Helen began their career in 1995 as an Analytical Chemist at Bristol-Myers Squibb. In 1997, they moved to Pfizer, where they held the roles of Research Project Lead, Pharm Sci Team Leader, and Formulation & Materials Scientist. In 2008, they joined the Board of Directors at the Academy of Pharmaceutical Sciences, where they developed the organisational and scientific strategy for the non-profit membership organisation. In 2012, Barker became the Managing Director at Project-ion Ltd., where they worked as an independent consultant, combining business strategy and scientific expertise to lead biopharmaceutical organisations to success. In 2013, they took on the role of Programme Director for Infectious Diseases, Experimental Medicine, and Nuffield Dept of Medicine at the University of Oxford. In 2015, they became the Head of Pharmaceutical Development at Ziarco, a wholly owned subsidiary of Novartis. Finally, in 2018, Barker was appointed Vice President, CMC at Reneo Pharmaceuticals.

Helen Barker obtained their MBA in Business Administration and Management from The Open University between 2011 and 2014. Helen also earned a BSc. (hons) in Chemical & Pharmaceutical Science from the University of Sunderland between 1993 and 1997. In addition, they hold four certifications: Fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry (FRSC) from the Royal Society of Chemistry, obtained in November 2018; Faculty Fellow (FFRPS) from the Royal Pharmaceutical Society, obtained in December 2015; Chartered Chemist (CChem) from the Royal Society of Chemistry, obtained in January 2011; and Chartered Scientist (CSci) from the Royal Society of Chemistry, also obtained in January 2011.
