Emanual Maverakis

Dr. Maverakis is a renowned professor at the University of California Davis School of Medicine, holding appointments in the Department of Dermatology and in the Department of Medical Microbiology and Immunology.

A Harvard and University of California-educated dermatologist, Dr. Maverakis is an accomplished physician-researcher who specializes in treating patients with immune-mediated skin ulcers. He is the recipient of numerous honors including a Presidential Early Career Award for Scientists and Engineers, which is the highest honor bestowed by the United States government for outstanding scientists and engineers.

In 2019, he was elected as a fellow of the California Academy of Sciences. Other awards include a National Institutes of Health Director’s New Innovator Award, a Career Award for Medical Scientists from the Burroughs Welcome Fund, and a Physician-Scientist Career Award from the Howard Hughes Medical Institute.
