James Olson

James Olson is a Senior Lecturer at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute since August 2022 and previously served as an Adjunct Professor at the same institution in early 2019. Olson's industry experience includes serving as a Senior Engineer in Technical Competitive Assessment and Emerging Technologies at GE Power from June 2013 to January 2019, where responsibilities included developing business strategies and creating clean energy solutions using quantum-mechanical design principles. Prior to that, Olson held various engineering roles at GE from December 2007 to June 2013 and managed the US Navy Nuclear Chemistry Laboratory Certification Program while serving in the Navy from September 1999 to 2006. Educational credentials include a Doctor's Degree in Nuclear Science & Engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, a Master of Engineering from Clarkson University, and a Bachelor's degree in Nuclear Engineering & Engineering Physics from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, complemented by training from the Naval Nuclear Propulsion Program.
