John S. Erickson

John S. Erickson is an accomplished professional with extensive experience in data exploration, web science, and research management. Currently serving as the Director of Operations at The Rensselaer Institute for Data Exploration and Application (IDEA) since 2010, John oversees collaborative research and student projects related to data exploration and visualization. As Deputy Director of the Web Science Research Center, John manages large-scale open government and science data projects that promote citizen engagement and governance. Previous roles include Director of Web Science Operations at Tetherless World Constellation, Research Engineer at TWC, and various significant positions at Hewlett-Packard Laboratories, focusing on policy-based management of digital repositories. John holds a PhD in Engineering Sciences from Dartmouth College and has contributed to numerous committees and boards throughout a distinguished career.
