E. Ward Sax has had a diverse and successful work experience. E. Ward started their career in the United States Navy, where they served as a Naval Flight Officer for 9 years. After leaving the Navy, they joined Discovery Research Group as the Vice President and Chief Operating Officer, where they oversaw the day-to-day operations of the company and was responsible for its mission achievement and financial performance. E. Ward later moved on to Research Triangle Institute, where they held the position of Senior Manager, Survey Support Business Segment, managing a multimillion dollar for-profit business segment. E. Ward then progressed to the role of Senior Vice President and Treasurer at Research Triangle Institute, where they had overall responsibility for the corporation's global treasury operations, capital budgeting strategies, financial planning and analysis, and enterprise risk management activities. Throughout their career, E. Ward Sax has demonstrated strong leadership skills and a track record of successfully managing multimillion dollar businesses and complex financial operations.

E. Ward Sax, CTP, CRMA, NC State ERM Fellow, MBA earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering from the United States Naval Academy in 1983. In 1992, they completed an MBA from the University of Rochester - Simon Business School. E. Ward also holds additional certifications including Certified Treasury Professional (CTP) from the Association for Financial Professionals and Certification in Risk Management Assurance (CRMA) from the Institute of Internal Auditors. Most recently, in 2019, Sax became an NC State ERM Fellow through North Carolina State University.
