Heather L. Barnes

Heather L. Barnes is an accomplished professional in the field of library and information science, currently serving as a Data Curator/Manager at RTI International since June 2023 and an Adjunct Faculty member at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill School of Information & Library Science since August 2017. With extensive experience in digital curation, Barnes held positions as a Digital Curation Librarian at Wake Forest University and a Digital Archivist Consultant for The Sun Magazine, where technical assistance and project guidance in digital archiving were provided. Academic qualifications include a Ph.D. and a Master of Science in Library and Information Science, both from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, along with a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from Smith College. Additional roles span teaching, managing digital content and communications, and conducting faculty-focused research support, highlighting a strong commitment to both education and digital preservation.
