James Hunter

Vice President, Government Relations at Research Triangle Institute

James Hunter has held various roles throughout their work experience. James is currently working at RTI International, where they started in 2017 as the Director of Public Policy. James then moved up to become the Senior Director of Public Policy in 2019, and currently holds the position of Vice President, Government Relations since December 2021.

In addition to their work at RTI International, James is also a board member at the North Carolina Department of Commerce since April 2023. James was previously a Marshall Memorial Fellow at the German Marshall Fund of the United States in 2022.

Prior to their current roles, James worked at the U.S. House of Representatives for several years. James started as a Legislative Correspondent / Staff Assistant in 2007 and gradually moved up to become a Legislative Assistant, Senior Legislative Assistant, and finally the Legislative Director from 2016 to 2017.

Additionally, they have a Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree in History and English from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
