Jamie Pina

Scientific Director Of Public Health Technology at Research Triangle Institute

Jamie Pina has extensive experience in the field of public health informatics and data modernization. Starting in 2005, Jamie worked as a Public Health Analyst at Northrop Grumman Mission Systems before moving to the Public Health Informatics Institute in 2006, where they served as a Public Health Analyst and facilitated communication between public health professionals and business analysts. In 2008, Jamie briefly worked as an Informatics Consultant at Public Health Seattle and King County. From 2006 to 2010, Jamie was a Predoctoral Research Fellow at the Center for Public Health Informatics, and simultaneously served as a PhD candidate at the UW Division of Biomedical and Health Informatics from 2006 to 2011. In 2010, Jamie was an Informatics Consultant at the American Medical Informatics Association (AMIA). Jamie then joined RTI International in 2011 and held various roles, including Research Scientist and Director of Public and Population Health Informatics. In 2021, Jamie joined the Association of State and Territorial Health Officials as the Vice President of Public Health Data Modernization & Informatics, responsible for developing and implementing ASTHO's public health data strategy. Jamie's current position is as the Scientific Director of Public Health Technology at RTI International, where they provide subject matter expertise in public health, biomedical informatics, and innovation, as well as advising on data governance and policy.

Jamie Pina earned a Bachelor's degree in Psychology and Information Technology from UMass Boston between 1995 and 2000. Then, from 2004 to 2006, they attended Emory University and obtained an MSPH degree in Public Health Informatics. Lastly, between 2006 and 2011, Jamie completed a PhD in Biomedical Informatics at the University of Washington - School of Medicine.
