Melissa Hunter

Melissa Hunter is a Research Public Health Analyst at RTI International, specializing in Alzheimer’s and dementia research, as well as aging in place and home and community-based services. Since March 2020, Melissa has provided technical assistance and conducted research in the Aging, Disability, and Long Term Care program. Prior experience includes serving as a Social Worker at the Orange County Department on Aging, where Melissa conducted assessments and developed care plans for older adults and caregivers, and at the Florence G. Soltys Adult Day Health Program, where responsibilities included linking participants with resources and managing outreach efforts. Melissa also held positions as a Research Associate at American Institutes for Research and completed internships with the Orange County Department on Aging and Durham Public Schools, focusing on social-emotional learning and support for older adults and students. Educational credentials include a Master’s Degree in Social Work from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and a Bachelor of Arts in Economics, Public Administration, and French from Elon University.
