Niya Aleksieva, PhD, has a strong background in cell engineering and research. Niya is currently working at Resolution Therapeutics as a Group Leader, responsible for leading the cell engineering team. Prior to this, they worked as a Research Scientist in the same company, specializing in cell engineering research.

Niya completed their PhD at The University of Edinburgh as a PhD candidate in the Wellcome Trust Tissue Repair PhD Training Programme. Niya'sresearch focused on understanding the differentiation of biliary cells into hepatocytes in a rodent model of chronic liver disease. Niya investigated the heterogeneity within the activated biliary compartment during liver injury and identified the signaling pathways involved in biliary to hepatocyte differentiation.

Niya also gained research experience as a Research Student at the University of Tsukuba, where they contributed to the development of an analysis pipeline to uncover novel epigenetic modulators responsible for the development of cancer.

During their Industrial Placement at GSK, Niya conducted research on neutrophil biology, specifically studying endogenous stimuli inducing citrullination and NETosis. Niya independently designed and performed experiments, analyzed results, and presented their work at internal meetings.

Niya's work experience also includes a role as a Sustainability Researcher at Kempen Capital Management, where they reviewed and reported on sustainability policies adopted by small and mid-range companies in the investment portfolio. Niya engaged with these companies and provided recommendations for improving sustainability performance.

Furthermore, they have gained research experience as a Summer Research Student at the Drug Discovery Core at The University of Edinburgh, the Institute of Neurobiology at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences, and the Division of Cancer Research at The University of Dundee. Additionally, they worked as a Summer Intern at AstraZeneca and as a Summer Research Student at the Molecular Medicine Centre in Bulgaria, where they investigated rare population-specific genetic variations associated with the development of epilepsy in Bulgarian adolescents.

Niya Aleksieva, PhD has a diverse and accomplished education history. Niya began their academic journey in 2006 at the Sofia High School of Mathematics, where they obtained a Bulgarian Diploma of Secondary Education. Niya then pursued their passion for biomedical sciences at The University of Edinburgh, earning a Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Sciences with Honours in Pharmacology from 2011 to 2015.

Building on their undergraduate studies, Niya Aleksieva completed their Master of Science in Drug Discovery Skills at King's College London from 2015 to 2016. Niya'sfocus on drug discovery furthered their expertise in the field.

Passionate about liver regeneration, Niya Aleksieva pursued their Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree at The University of Edinburgh from 2016 to 2021. Niya'sresearch during this time centered around liver regeneration, showcasing their dedication to advancing knowledge in this area.

In addition to their formal education, Niya Aleksieva has obtained various certifications to enhance their professional skills.
