Ricardo Guerreiro has worked in various roles since 2015. Ricardo started as a Nature Guide at Oporto Adventure Tours, where they were responsible for 12-hour tours with tourists from around the world. In 2017, they worked as a Bioinformatics intern at the University of Cologne, where they used Hidden Markov Models to predict protein function of unknown proteins and learned Genomics and machine learning. In 2018, they became a PhD Student - Bioinformatics at the University of Düsseldorf, where they explored the genome of Brassica species to identify genes responsible for transition to C4 photosynthesis. Most recently, in 2021, they joined Resolve BioSciences as a Software Developer.

Ricardo Guerreiro obtained a Bachelor of Biology from Universidade do Porto between 2011 and 2014, with a focus on Biology, General. Following this, they obtained a Master in Genetics, Biodiversity and Evolution from the same university between 2015 and 2017, with a focus on Informatical Biogeography. Additionally, they have obtained certifications in the fields of data science, deep learning, and DevOps from DataCamp, KodeKloud, and Udemy.
