Balam Willemsen

Sr. Director, Software Engineering at Resonant

Balam Willemsen has a diverse work experience spanning over several companies and roles. They began their career as a Research Assistant at Northeastern University from 1991 to 1995. After that, they worked as a Postdoctoral Research Associate at the Air Force Research Laboratory for a short period in 1996. From 1996 to 2004, Balam held various roles at Superconductor Technologies, including Manager, Technology Programs/Device Physicist, Principal Investigator, and Director. They were involved in the development of tunable filters and reducing intermodulation distortion in HTS circuits. In 2004, they joined Resonant Inc. as a Member of Technical Staff until 2016, when they were promoted to Director of Software Engineering. Currently, Balam holds the position of Sr. Director of Software Engineering at Resonant Inc. starting from March 2021. Additionally, Balam worked as a Principal Engineer at Ambient Corporation from 2011 to 2013. Overall, Balam Willemsen has gained significant experience in software engineering, technical leadership, and research roles throughout their career.

Balam Willemsen began their education in 1974 at the International School of Geneva (Ecolint). It is unknown whether they obtained a degree or pursued any specific field of study during this time. Balam later attended the University of Delaware from 1984 to 1988, where they earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Physics. Balam then continued their academic journey at Northeastern University from 1989 to 1995, where they obtained a Ph.D. in Physics.
