Marcos Shih

Marcos Shih is a seasoned Matte Painter with extensive experience in the visual effects and gaming industries. Currently serving as a Senior Matte Painter and Vista Artist at Respawn Entertainment since March 2017, Marcos specializes in creating sky boxes and set extensions for Apex Legends, collaborating closely with art directors and environment artists to define the visual aesthetic. Previous roles include Senior Matte Painter at Magnopus, contributing to VR set extensions for NASA, and at Sony Pictures Imageworks, where Marcos worked on set extensions for The Angry Birds Movie. Additional experience encompasses positions at various prestigious studios, including ScanlineVFX, Method Studios, and Logan, where Marcos developed skills in creating photo-real environments, 3D modeling, and delivering complex matte paintings using tools such as Nuke, Maya, and Zbrush. Educational background includes a degree in Visual Effects from the Academy of Art University and a Fine Art degree from SUNY Geneseo.
