Saru Jayaraman

Saru Jayaraman has held several prominent roles throughout their career. Saru is currently the President of One Fair Wage, a position they have held since December 2019. In addition, they co-founded the Restaurant Opportunities Centers United in 2002 and remains involved with the organization. Jayaraman has also worked at the University of California, Berkeley since 2012, serving as the Director of the Food Labor Research Center and as a Lecturer at the Goldman School of Public Policy.

Saru Jayaraman received their Bachelor's degree in Political Science and Development Studies from UCLA, where they studied from 1991 to 1995. Saru then attended Harvard Kennedy School from 1996 to 1998 and earned a Master's degree in Public Policy (M.P.P.). Following that, they enrolled at Yale Law School and obtained their Doctor of Law (J.D.) degree in 2000. In 2016, Saru Jayaraman was awarded an Honorary Doctorate from Simmons University.
