Erin Hiatt (She/Her/Hers)

Erin Hiatt has extensive experience in the field of sustainability and environmental advocacy. Erin is currently serving as the Vice President of CSR at the Retail Industry Leaders Association (RILA), where they collaborate with decision-makers in the retail industry to advance sustainability and innovation through public-policy advocacy and education. Prior to this role, they held positions as the Senior Director of Sustainability & Innovation and the Director of Energy, Sustainability & Research at RILA.

Before joining RILA, Erin worked at Progress Energy as an EnergyWise Change Management and Business Processes Intern. In this role, they assisted with the transitioning of stakeholders into a Smart Grid system by developing education materials, maintaining a communication plan, and managing confidential grant documents.

Erin also has experience in teaching and student leadership roles. Erin worked as a Student Teacher at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where they developed and taught a course on the "Smart Grid and the Future of Energy." Erin also served on the UNC-Chapel Hill Green Revolving Fund Committee, working with university officials to determine project selection criteria for campus energy efficiency projects.

Additionally, Erin has demonstrated their commitment to renewable energy and sustainability as the Co-chair of the Renewable Energy Special Projects Committee of Student Government and as a Student Representative on the DELTA Internal Advisory Committee.

Erin has also gained research experience as an Environmental Law Research Intern to Donald Hornstein, J.D., where they conducted background research on the environmental record of a Supreme Court nominee.

Earlier in their career, Erin worked as a Farm Hand at Laughing Owl Farm and as a Student Administrative Assistant to Human Resources at Cabarrus Health Alliance.

Erin Hiatt (She/Her/Hers) received their education from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Erin attended the university from 2008 to 2012 and earned a B.A. with Honors. Their major was in Public Policy Analysis, with a focus on Energy Policy. Additionally, they obtained a B.A. in French and a minor in Environmental Science/Studies.

In 2010, Erin Hiatt participated in a study abroad program at IES Arles, where they furthered their study of French.

In terms of additional certifications, Erin Hiatt obtained a Retail Education Certificate from Shoptalk in March 2019.
