Vice President, Regulatory Affairs at Retail Industry Leaders Association (RILA)

Susan Kirsch has a diverse work experience spanning over several years. Susan currently holds the position of Vice President, Regulatory Affairs at the Retail Industry Leaders Association (RILA) since November 2021. Prior to this role, they served as the Senior Director and Director of Regulatory Affairs and Compliance at RILA.

Before joining RILA, Susan worked as a Government Affairs Advisor at Bergeson & Campbell, P.C. from 2016 to 2020. Susan'sresponsibilities included providing regulatory and technical policy expertise to clients in the agriculture and commodity grower communities. Susan assisted clients in achieving compliance and developing environmentally sustainable approaches.

Additionally, Susan gained valuable experience at The Acta Group from 2016 to 2019 as a Government Affairs Advisor.

Earlier in their career, Susan served as an Environmental Program Manager at the Association of Clean Water Administrators (ACWA) from 2012 to 2016. Susan supported and coordinated the work of various committees, represented state water quality programs, and played a role in policy development and implementation.

Susan has also worked as a Research Assistant at the Center for Environmental Legal Studies, Pace Law School, where they researched and updated a chapter on climate change responses for a publication. Susan gained legal experience as a Legal Intern at the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation and the Office of the New York State Attorney General.

Susan's early legal career included positions as a Legal Intern at Pace Environmental Law Clinic and a Summer Law Clerk at the U.S. Department of Justice, Environmental & Natural Resources Division. Susan also worked as a Legal Assistant at Azar & Schlehofer, P.C.

Overall, Susan Kirsch has a strong background in regulatory affairs, government affairs, and environmental law, with extensive experience in advising and representing organizations in various industries.

Susan Kirsch has a Bachelor's degree in Biology from the University of St. Thomas. Susan also pursued Semester Study Abroad in Natural Resources and Conservation at the School for International Training. Additionally, Susan obtained a J.D. degree with a focus on Environmental Law from the Elisabeth Haub School of Law at Pace University.
