Sunil Gupta

Sunil Gupta, MD has a strong background in the field of retinal eye disease. Sunil is the Founder of Retina Specialty Institute, which is renowned for its research in conditions such as Macular Degeneration and Diabetic Retinopathy. Dr. Gupta's expertise led him to found Intelligent Retinal Imaging Systems (IRIS), a cloud-based telemedicine tool that aims to prevent blindness caused by Diabetic Retinopathy. Additionally, they are the Co-Founder and Chief Medical Officer of USRetina, an association of over sixty retina physicians dedicated to advancing the retina vitreous community.

Sunil Gupta, MD has a diverse education history. Sunil completed their Bachelor of Applied Science (B.A.Sc.) in Chemical Engineering at the University of Washington. Sunil then pursued their Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) at the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine. After completing medical school, Sunil Gupta joined Baylor College of Medicine as a Medical Intern. Sunil subsequently continued their education at Baylor College of Medicine, specializing in Ophthalmology through their Cullen Eye Institute Ophthalmology Residency Program. To further enhance their expertise, Sunil Gupta pursued a Fellowship in Vitreoretinal Diseases, specifically focusing on Uveitis and Genetic retinal diseases, at the University of Iowa Roy J. and Lucille A. Carver College of Medicine. Additionally, they are Board Certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology.
