Nicholas Wilson has a diverse work experience in the gaming industry. Nicholas currently works at Retro Studios as the Lead VFX Artist, a position they have held since March 2022. Prior to that, they were a Senior VFX Artist at Retro Studios starting from April 2020.
Before joining Retro Studios, Nicholas worked at Gearbox Software for a significant part of their career. Nicholas held various roles at Gearbox Software, including VFX Director from October 2018 to April 2020, FX & Technical Art Director from February 2017 to April 2020, Lead FX Artist from June 2015 to April 2020, and Artist from March 2009 to June 2015. Nicholas started their career at Gearbox Software as an intern in September 2008 and worked there until March 2009.
Throughout their career, Nicholas has been involved in creating visual effects for different aspects of game development, such as bullet casings, environmental effects, gore, and character skills/spells. Nicholas has also served as a technical liaison for internal and external teams, assisting with pipeline and art creation practices.
Nicholas Wilson obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in Arts and Technology from The University of Texas at Dallas. Nicholas attended the university from 2003 to 2010.
