Michael Raymond Hernandez has a diverse work experience spanning several industries. Michael Raymond is currently serving as the New York Policy Director at Rewiring America since 2022. Prior to that, they worked at DASNY (Dormitory Authority - State of New York) as the Director of Intergovernmental Relations from 2020 to 2022. In this role, they were responsible for developing and executing DASNY's legislative agenda, researching and tracking legislation, and monitoring legislative hearings.

From 2013 to 2020, Hernandez worked at the New York State Assembly, holding various roles. Michael Raymond served as the Assistant Secretary for Program and Policy from 2016 to 2020, where they supervised a team and provided oversight for multiple programmatic areas. Michael Raymond also acted as the Associate Counsel for Education, Higher Education, and Libraries from 2015 to 2016, and the Associate Counsel for Transportation, Corporations, Commissions, and Committees from 2013 to 2015. In these positions, they provided legal analysis and advice on proposed legislation, stayed updated on laws and policy issues, and participated in negotiations and budgeting processes.

Before their work in the government sector, Hernandez worked as an Associate at David J. Hernandez & Associates from 2008 to 2012. Michael Raymond provided legal services in various areas such as family law, criminal law, housing court, bankruptcy, and more. Michael Raymond managed a litigation caseload and handled all stages of litigation.

Early in their career, Hernandez gained experience as a Legislative Intern for United States Senator Charles E. Schumer in 2006, where they conducted legal research and wrote legal memoranda on proposed legislation. Michael Raymond also served as a Student Director for the 2006 Student Bar Association and worked as a Field Organizer for the Straphangers Campaign from 2002 to 2005. Additionally, they served as a Project Coordinator for the New York Public Interest Research Group from 1999 to 2002.

Throughout their career, Hernandez has developed strong skills in policy development, legal analysis, legislative affairs, and team management.

Michael Raymond Hernandez completed their Bachelor of Arts degree in Media Studies and Political Science at City University of New York at Hunter College from 1995 to 1999. Michael Raymond then pursued a Juris Doctor degree in Law at State University of New York at Buffalo Law School from 2005 to 2008. In terms of additional certifications, Michael became an Attorney recognized by the State Bar of California in September 2021 and by the New York State Unified Court System in February 2009.
