John Engler

John Engler is an experienced neurosurgeon currently practicing at UNC REX Healthcare since August 2018. Prior to this role, John served as an Assistant Professor of Surgery at the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences and as a Staff Neurosurgeon at Naval Medical Center Portsmouth, where John also took on the responsibilities of Acting Department Head in the Department of Neurosurgery. Notably, John was the sole neurosurgeon in Southern Afghanistan in support of US CENTCOM operations with the NATO Role 3 Multinational Medical Unit in 2017. John completed neurosurgery residency training at New York University from July 2007 to July 2014 and holds a Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) degree from New York Medicine Jobs, as well as a Bachelor’s Degree from North Carolina State University.
