Alex Etcheson

Senior Principal Hardware Engineer at RGNext

Alex Etcheson has a strong background in hardware engineering and network management. From 2022 onwards, they have been working as a Senior Principal Hardware Engineer at RGNext. Prior to this, they worked at deciBel Research, Inc. as a Principal Hardware Engineer - Networks from 2021 to 2022. In this role, they led network and data/comm. engineering projects in support of various space center launch range missions. Before that, Alex worked at Agile Defense, Inc. from 2015 to 2021. Alex started as a Network Administrator, providing 24/7 support for network operations and installing and configuring Cisco devices. Alex then became a Senior Network Administrator, overseeing the network and reporting to government officials. Finally, they served as a Network Engineer / Network Team Lead, responsible for the design of the network topology. Prior to their civilian career, Alex served in the US Army from 2009 to 2015, holding various roles such as Network Communications Team Chief and Satellite Communications Systems Operator/Maintainer. Overall, Alex Etcheson has gained extensive experience in hardware engineering, network management, and communications throughout their career.

Alex Etcheson started their education at Fort Gordon Signal Center of Excellence in 2009, where they studied Satellite Communications until 2010. From 2010 to 2015, they attended the University of Maryland Global Campus, earning a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Computer Networks and Security. In 2012, Alex attended the 7th Army Noncommissioned Officer Academy, focusing on Leadership. They later pursued a Master of Professional Studies degree in Cybersecurity and Information Assurance at Penn State University from 2015 to 2021.

Additionally, Alex obtained several certifications throughout their career. These include:

- Scrum Master certification from Scrum Alliance, earned in December 2017.

- Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) Routing and Switching certification from Cisco, obtained in March 2016.

- Cisco Certified Network Associate - Security certification from Cisco, achieved in November 2015.

- ITILv3 Foundations certification from EXIN your ICT competence partner, acquired in April 2015.

- Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) Routing and Switching certification from Cisco, obtained in March 2015.

- Network+ certification from CompTIA, earned in December 2014.

- A+ certification from CompTIA, achieved in August 2014.

- Security+ certification from CompTIA, obtained in December 2012.

Furthermore, Alex recently acquired the Juniper Networks Certified Associate, Junos (JNCIA-Junos) certification from Juniper Networks in June 2022.
