Volker Materna

Volker Materna serves as the Head of the Systems Engineering and Integration Department at Rheinmetall Defence since October 2019, overseeing key engineering functions including Systems Engineering, Integration, and Cyber Security. Prior to this role, Volker was the Head of Systems Engineering and V&V at Grey Innovation Group Pty Ltd, leading a systems engineering team and enhancing capabilities to meet business needs. At Invetech, Volker managed the Electronics and Systems Engineering departments, while at Infineon Technologies, leadership was provided for an international team focused on safety-critical automotive applications. Earlier experience at Bosch encompassed both project management and senior management roles in engineering and production, with responsibilities that included overseeing production preparation and managing a team for the development of electro-mechanical devices. Educational qualifications include a Diplom-Ingenieur in Micro-Electro-Mechanical Systems from Albert-Ludwigs-Universität Freiburg im Breisgau, supplemented by studies at Universidad Politécnica de Madrid.
