Rhode Island Army National Guard
Joshua Colasante has extensive experience in both military and engineering roles. Currently serving as a Project Officer with the Rhode Island Army National Guard and as Company Commander at the 861st Engineer Company since April 2019, Joshua has demonstrated leadership and management skills in military training operations. In parallel, Joshua has been a Mechanical Engineer at Electric Boat since June 2014, focusing on research, development, and testing of components and systems to meet military and commercial standards. Previous military roles include Executive Officer with Echo Company and Platoon Leader at the 861st Engineer Company, where Joshua was responsible for training and the well-being of soldiers. Joshua's early work experience includes a Mechanical Engineering Co-op at Davis-Standard and culinary responsibilities at Michelangelo's Catering. Joshua holds a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Rhode Island and completed the Engineer Corps Branch Qualification through the United States Army Basic Officer's Engineer Course.

The Rhode Island Army National Guard is the nation's oldest military branch which consists of more that 2,200 members serving both state and federal governments. The Rhode Island Army National Guard has served and remains as an active force in the Global War on Terrorism, with units that have deployed worldwide in direct support of national security objectives. In times of local emergencies and natural disasters, the Rhode Island Guard is called upon to provide military support to civil authorities. Despite being the smallest state, Rhode Island is the only state with a Special Forces Unit, a Special Operations Detachment unit, and an Airborne Infantry.
