Christopher Durand has held various financial positions across various organizations in Rhode Island since 2014. In 2014, they began as a Finance Intern at the Rhode Island Convention Center. Christopher then moved to the Rhode Island Public Transit Authority (RIPTA) as a Budget Analyst, where they were responsible for managing the capital budget and improvement plan. In 2018, Durand was promoted to Senior Financial Analyst at RIPTA, where they conducted cost-benefit analyses and evaluated potential service models and investments.

In 2018, Durand also began working at the Rhode Island Infrastructure Bank as a Senior Financial Analyst, where they were responsible for investment of loan proceeds, monthly financial reporting, and journal entries related to bonds, interest rate cap, and investment earnings.

In 2020, Durand was promoted to Executive Director of Finance and Budget at RIPTA, where they were responsible for managing over $90 million in federal COVID relief funding, securing a $15 million revolving line of credit and ensuring no reductions to service levels or increases in fares as a result of revenue losses exceeding $20 million per year. Christopher was then promoted again to Chief Financial Officer at RIPTA, where they are currently overseeing accounting, financial planning and analysis, procurement, and inventory control.

Christopher Durand attended the Community College of Rhode Island from 2007 to 2012, where they earned an Associate's degree in General Business. Christopher then attended Bryant University from 2011 to 2011, studying Finance, General. Finally, they attended the University of Rhode Island from 2013 to 2014, where they earned a Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) in Finance, General.
