Valerie Tutson

Valerie Tutson is an accomplished storyteller and cultural artist with extensive experience in storytelling and community engagement. As the Executive and Festival Director and a founding member of the Rhode Island Black Storytellers, Valerie has led the organization since 1999, significantly contributing to the annual FUNDA FEST, which highlights Black storytelling. With over three decades of experience as the owner of Stories n Stuff, Valerie has traveled extensively to share and teach storytelling skills. Additionally, Valerie served as an Independent Consultant for Ambit Energy from 2014 to 2022, focusing on team recruitment and training. Valerie holds a BA in "Storytelling as a Communications' Art" and an MA in Theatre Arts from Brown University, along with an Honorary Doctorate of Fine Arts from Rhode Island College for contributions to Visual and Performing Arts.
