Sumit KALIA, PhD

Sumit KALIA, PhD has held a variety of roles in the Information Technology and research fields over the past 11 years. In 2019, they were the Director of Information Technology at Rhombus Power Inc., and prior to that, they were a Senior Software Engineer and Software Engineer-Full Stack at the same company. In 2016, they founded RA Housing. From 2014 to 2015, they were a PhD student at Queen's University, where they were also a Teaching Assistant, Civil Computer Committee Member, and Front Desk Assistant (QUIC). In 2015, they were a Visiting Scholar at Stanford University. Sumit was a Research Assistant at Institut de M\u00e9canique des Fluides de Toulouse in 2013 and at TU Bergakademie Freiberg in 2012. In 2010, they were a Lead Modeler at Helmholtz-Gemeinschaft / Helmholtz Association. In 2009, they completed a Summer Internship at the Northan region of tractor testing & farm equipment Centre and in 2008, they completed a Summer Internship at Hindustan Mining Machinery.

Sumit KALIA, PhD obtained their Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Civil Engineering from Queen's University between 2014 and 2020. Prior to this, they obtained their Master's degree in Groundwater Management from TU Bergakademie Freiberg between 2011 and 2013. Sumit also obtained their B.tech. in Agricultural engineering from Punjab Agricultural University between 2006 and 2010. In 2021, they obtained certifications in DoD CUI Training from the Defense Counterintelligence and Security Agency (DCSA), PERSONALLY IDENTIFIABLE INFORMATION from the Defense Security Service, and PROTECTED HEALTH INFORMATION from the Defense Security Service.
