Cecilia Scimia

Cecilia Scimia, MD, PhD, MSc has a diverse work experience in the medical field. Cecilia began their career as a PHD Graduate Student at UCSD/Sanford Burnham for Medical Research from 2006 to 2009. After that, they worked as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at Sanford Burnham for Medical Research/UCSD from 2009 to 2012. Cecilia then joined Temple University School of Medicine as a Faculty Member from 2013 to 2015, and simultaneously served as an Adjunct Faculty Member from 2014 to 2015. In 2015, they transitioned to Takeda, where they took on various roles including Medical Science Liaison in the CardioMetabolic area from 2015 to 2016, followed by Medical Science Liaison specializing in Specialty/Immunology/GI from 2016 to 2017. Cecilia then became an Associate Medical Director in Translational Research Early Clinical in the Gastroenterology Therapeutic Area from 2017 to 2018, and later held the position of Associate Medical Director in the Gastroenterology Therapeutic Area from 2018 to 2019. Most recently, they joined Rhythm Pharmaceuticals Inc. as a Medical Director in 2019 and was promoted to Senior Medical Director in September 2021.

Cecilia Scimia, MD, PhD, MSc has a comprehensive education history. Cecilia obtained their Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree from Universita' Cattolica del Sacro Cuore in 2002. Following that, they completed a Cardiology Specialist residency program at Università Campus Bio-Medico di Roma from 2002 to 2006. In 2009, they earned their Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Molecular Medicine from the University of Milan. Furthermore, they acquired a Certificate in Clinical Trial Design and Management from UC San Diego in 2013. Lastly, they obtained a Master's degree in Innovation, Management, and Entrepreneurship from the Fox School of Business at Temple University in 2015. Alongside their education, they hold certifications, including "Nano Tips for Communicating with Confidence with Selena Rezvani" from LinkedIn in 2022 and "USMLE/ECFMG 2012" from USMLE in 2012.
