Jan Wurm

Guest Curator at Richmond Art Center

Jan Wurm is an experienced art professional with a strong background in curation and education. As a Guest Curator at Richmond Art Center since 2013, Jan has led notable projects such as "The Berkeley Breakfast Group - Java and Jive" and "Closely Considered: Diebenkorn in Berkeley." Additionally, Jan serves as the Director of Exhibitions, with curatorial oversight of the exhibition "MILDRED HOWARD: SPIRIT & MATTER." Since 2014, Jan has been an Instructor at UC Berkeley Osher Lifelong Learning Institute, and previously organized a guest artist lecture series at Berkeley Art Center from 2009 to 2013. Jan's teaching experience includes roles at University of California Berkeley Extension and the Associated Students of University of California Berkeley Art Studio, focusing on painting, drawing, and watercolor. Jan holds a B.A. in Pictorial Arts from UCLA and a MARCA in Painting from the Royal College of Art.

Richmond Art Center

The Richmond Art Center is the largest visual arts center in the East Bay, dedicated to bringing art to young and old alike who reflect the diverse richness of our community. We're is a visual arts showcase and hands-on learning center that gives wide-ranging audiences the opportunity to create, see and learn about art. Every year, we serve more than 1,800 students through classes and programs taught by professional artists, both onsite at the Center and offsite at local schools, studios and community centers. Our four galleries allow us to mount rotating exhibitions that display the works of emerging and established Bay Area artists. Artists such as Richard Diebenkorn, Jasper Johns, Jay DeFeo, Wanxin Zhang, Hung Liu, Ed Rossbach and Peter Voulkos have been showcased here.
