Samuel Avery-Castillo has a diverse work experience in education and coaching. Starting in 2012, they worked as a Kindergarten Teacher at Nicaragua Christian Academy until 2014. From 2015 to 2019, they served as an Assistant Men's Soccer Coach at the Longwood University Athletic Department. In 2019, they became a Middle School Teacher at Central Virginia Christian School. In 2020, they took on the role of Head Soccer Coach at Prince Edward County High School and the Richmond Kickers Soccer Club. Currently, they are working as a Student Chaplain at Dakar Academy.

Samuel Avery-Castillo attended Columbia International University from 2008 to 2012, where they earned a Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education and Teaching.
