Diego Garcia

Board Member at Richmond Main Street Initiative

Diego Garcia was born in Mexico City Nezahualcoyotl, and migrated to the USA in 1978. Mr. Garcia grew up in the South Side of Richmond and continues to reside in this community. He married his high school girlfriend Gina Garcia, they both have four sons Diego, Raul, Quetzal and daughter Kamilah.

Mr. Garcia is a well recognize community leader, business owner and Teacher. Mr. Garcia has dedicated over 30 years of service to the community of Richmond. In 2003 Mr. Garcia founded Richmond SOL soccer program who serves over 300 families every year. Mr. Garcia has helped increase the peace in many communities across California and Mexico. Mr. Garcia is also responsible for organizing two of the biggest political civil right movement in the Bay Area including the May 1st National immigrants’ rights political movement in 2006 Where he mobilizes over 8,000 people. Mr. Garcia has also served his community by serving on the Recreation and Parks Commission for 9 years and the Citizens Police Review Commission for other 9 years. For the 30 years of service Mr. Garcia has earn many recognitions and awards from local organizations, City Proclamations, County and State recognitions
