Alireza (Alex) Ghodsi born in Tehran, Iran has been living in Houston Texas since 1972. He is an active alumnus of the University of Houston earning his Master of Civil Engineering degree in 1978 and is a licensed professional engineer. He was privileged to be asked to give the commencement address for the May, 2009 graduating class of the University of Houston Cullen College of Engineering.
Alex co-founded and currently holds the position of Chairman of the Board and Chief Executive Officer of Rigid Global Buildings, LTD. (RGB) In January, 2011, RGB went global when it merged with Jin Huan Steel Structures. This transition into the global market brought the financial stability that Alex was looking for as well as a means to reach a larger international audience.
The international market is not unknown to Alex. In his previous position as Executive Vice President and co-owner he has spent over twenty- five years developing, selling and managing international offices and projects. He broadened the market by opening offices in The Philippines and Seoul, Korea in the mid 1990’s. Alex was privileged in December, 2010 to be among the select few Iranian- American Businessmen to travel with Paul Brinkley, Deputy Secretary of Defense to Robert Gates, to Afghanistan and Basra, Iraq to discuss how the private sector could help in the rebuilding of these two countries. He was honored to meet and speak with General David Petraeus, the commander of the US and NATO forces in Afghanistan.
Alex has been married to his wife, Joanna for 43 years and they have two children. A daughter, who is a practicing OB/GYN in Los Angeles, CA, and is currently a contributing writer for “Elite Daily Magazine”, and a son who is a graduate of The Art Institute of Houston Culinary Program but is currently working as a District Sales Manager for RGB.
