Patrick Mertens

Patrick Mertens has held various roles in the tech industry since 2013. Patrick began as a Student Assistant at Infineon Technologies in 2013, followed by a similar role at Utimaco IS GmbH in 2015. In 2017, they became CTO of Crowdcoding IT Solutions UG (haftungsbeschränkt). In 2019, they took on an Intern role at NVIDIA, and in 2020 they became both Research Assistant at InnoSurge AC (Start-up Project) and CTO of RIIICO.

Patrick Mertens has a long and varied educational history. Patrick began their educational journey in 2003, attending GGS Vaalserquartier for elementary school. In 2006, they graduated from Bischöfliches Pius-Gymnasium Aachen with an Abitur (A level). In 2012, they had an academic term abroad at Laurier Senior High School in Montréal, Canada. From 2014 to 2017, they attended RWTH Aachen University, where they earned a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) in Electrical Engineering. Patrick then returned to RWTH Aachen University, where they earned a Master of Science (M.Sc.) in Electrical Engineering from 2017 to 2020. In 2021, they are currently attending University of California, Berkeley as part of SkyDeck Batch 13 Fall 2021. Additionally, they hold a Cambridge English: Advanced (CAE) certification from Cambridge English Language Assessment.
