Marije Jansen has extensive experience in the field of Japanese art and culture, currently serving as Curator of Japanese Prints at the Rijksmuseum since September 2016. Additionally, Marije Jansen holds roles as a member of the advisory committee for museums at Gemeente Súdwest-Fryslân and as a board member of the Ailion Foundation at Leiden University. Previous positions include board membership at the Heinz Kaempfer Fonds and editorial responsibilities for the Society of Japanese Arts' publication, Andon. Marije Jansen's academic background includes a Master of Arts in Japanese Language and Culture from Leiden University and a Bachelor of Arts in Art History from the University of Amsterdam.

The Rijksmuseum manages a number of internationally renowned collections in the field of Dutch art and history from the Middle Ages onwards, as well as important collections of European and Asian artworks.
