Mette van Essen is a seasoned professional in informatiemanagement and digital preservation, currently serving as a Senior Adviseur at Rijkswaterstaat since January 2020, working on the Programma Open op Orde RWS and documentair informatiemanagement. Prior experience includes roles as a Digital Preservation Researcher and Advisor in Digital Innovation at the Nationaal Archief from February 2011 to January 2020, and as a Digital Preservation Specialist and AV Specialist at the Municipal Archive of Rotterdam between December 2005 and January 2011. Mette holds a Bachelor’s degree in Photography and Fine Arts 3D from the Royal Academy of Arts in Den Haag and has also studied at the Edinburgh College of Art. Education culminated with a VWO diploma from Sint Anthonius College in Gouda.
