Al Forrest

Professor Al Forrest is the Associate Director (Scientific Strategy) and head of the Systems Biology and Genomics Lab at the Harry Perkins Institute of Medical Research and a professor at the University of Western Australia. They are an expert in transcriptomics and an early adopter of single-cell and spatial profiling in Australia. While coordinating the FANTOM5 project at RIKEN Yokohama, they led an international consortium of over 250 researchers, resulting in significant publications in esteemed journals such as Nature and Science. Since returning to Australia in 2015, they have been instrumental in forming the Western Australian Cancer Single Cell Consortium and currently focus on analyzing the tumour microenvironment and clonal heterogeneity in cancers with poor prognosis.
